The Mother

Mother's Day is this weekend, and I could not be more grateful.

Lumos serves folks of all walks of life, but the practice was built specifically with women in mind. It is a space where women can come with questions, leave with answers, and know they have guidance on a higher level than they've ever had. And of those women, some of the most amazing ones are mothers.

During my time in chiropractic school something sparked an extreme interest in chakras. We each have seven chakras. Every chakra is an energy center associated with different emotions and human needs. Every chakra also has a positive and negative archetype. The first chakra is the root chakra. It represents our foundation, our survival instincts much like the roots of a tree. It is responsible for grounding our spirit in the material world and is associated with security. Want to take a guess at what the positive archetype is for the root chakra? If you guessed The Mother, you would be right. The mother, in all of her feminine glory is powerful enough to nourish, sustain life, and balance vigilance; yet gentle enough to provide a sense of safety and comfort. Without The Mother, we cannot thrive. We cannot reach higher levels of enlightenment when our most basic senses of security are not taken care of. And while all of us may not have a loving mother in the physical realm, it is important to notice what she represents as a whole. We all need her. Even if it's just the mother within.

Without The Mother, we are anxious, vulnerable, and needy.

Thank you to all of the mom's who are the exact physical manifestation of this archetype. We could not do it without you.

And in honor of all of you, I share this BEAUTIFUL video. It was shared by a friend, who actually makes an appearance meeting her little one for the first time. Enjoy. DISCLAIMER: If you have a heart, this video might move you to tears. Don't say I didn't warn you.
